03.24.2014 -- Baptism

So if that is true I sent a lot of pics today!!  Well nothing too exciting happened this week--  except for J. GOT BAPTIZED!!!!!

It was such a great night!! The primary kids sang- the Spirit was really strong- it was just a really nice night! J. absolutely loved it!  She's such a brave little girl and to see her go up and share her testimony after she was baptized- it was so neat :)

E. really enjoyed the baptism too!!

We went on exchange with Newcastle university this week and sister Daheke came up to south shields- we had a great time and saw so many miracles!!!  We met so may great people and we went contacting on beach road- which is pretty close to the beach and there is a huge park- the sun was shining and we had a good ole time :)

E. just continues to be a huge miracle!! She is amazing!  telling her friends that this is the only true church- she started reading the BOM to J. every morning- she wants her to get in the habit now, even though she is 2. WOW she is so great!!!!!! ) <3

President and Sis Pilkington came to our district meeting- Elder Baker had us all instruct for a little bit- and I did my instruction on being happy and talking to everyone :)  so Sis Peck and I sang a song and changed the words to if your happy and you know it- President loved it! haha oh man there I go again out of my comfort zone singing for Pres!

Driving is going well- I'm taking my practical test a week from today- wish me luck!!!

The relief society had a little present and card for me for my bday :) I really love this ward they are just the best!

Today for pday we are having a disney pday and everyone has to dress up- so i am going to be Belle :) did my hair all up and it's goig to be great :)

03.17.2014 -- Visit with Elder D. Todd Christofferson!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh my goodness, so much good news this week!!!!

Ok so first of all I PASSED MY THEORY TEST!!!!!!!!!!! whoop whoop!!!  :)

Next—J. PASSED HER BAPTISMAL INTERVIEW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The highlight this week was stake conference!!  Dad, I remembered you telling me that story about having a snowball fight with Elder Christofferson, and a few other stories and I really wanted to meet him but I didn't think I would get the chance because he is really busy.

So Saturday we arrived early to stake conference to save seats for E. and S. - so I wrote Elder Christofferson a little note just to say the Monroe’s from Tennessee say hello- I told him that I was related to Jimmy and Peggy and that Ricky was my dad- I even threw in Johnny- I told him the snowball fight story and just a hello.  I gave it to President Cawthorn and I didn't think anything about it.  Well a few minutes later President Cawthorn comes up to me and says Sister Monroe follow me and bring your companion.   Oh no I knew where this was going!  We got to talk to him for a while!!  Then he went to get his wife and we talked to both of them!!  He is SO nice!!  Then randomly S. walks up!!! So S. got to shake his hand!!  It was so great!!!  I was so excited- then he gave me and Sister Peck chocolate and said blessings for coming to church ;) haha but he was really funny and we were joking around- I asked him to ask President Monson if Sis Peck and I could extend our missions ;) hahaha

The conference was amazing!  The Spirit was really really strong- oh man get this- in his talk he started talking about this Bishop in a little ward in Tennessee that he was over when he was the stake president.  Then he said Sister Monroe here in the audience it is actually her great-uncle!  Oh man after conference everyone went nuts! All my Newcastle and South Shields family ward members and ALL of the missionaries.  But it was really cool to hear him talk about Johnny!!  It was one of the main points in his talk- he was talking about how this work is for the individual- one by one we bring people into the church. :)

After the Saturday session, E. loved it so so much, she had felt the spirit so strong and she said I want to meet him!  So she went straight up and shook his hand!  Sis Peck and I were watching from a distance, he was so great to her and she was so touched!!!   When she came back to talk to us she told us all the things she liked about conference and then she said ''and he was talking about Sister Monroe, and I was like OH! that is my sister Monroe!'' and to hear her say that :) oh man it was just the most amazing feeling ever- I felt so honored to have met her! Then she she thanked Sis Peck and myself for helping her get to this point :) I was thinking- oh no thank you!  Really it is no problem at all!  I love her so much she is amazing!

Then the Sunday session, he got to meet J.!  We had 5 less actives there and the Spirit was just so so strong!  E. loved it again and S. did too!!  So after we were taking a zone picture and Elder Burrio (our zone leader) went to ask if Elder Christofferson could come in our pic- but he could not get to him.  So then the zone was like 'send sister monroe!' so I went and asked- his security guard said no there wasn't enough time but he was like yes! so he came out and took a picture with our zone :)  it was so great!!!!  Then he put his arm around me and said tell your family I am asking about them and I say hello!  So family- Elder Christofferson says hello!  And tell Johnny that he was asking about him in particular :)

I think the highlight of all of that- was hearing an apostle of the Lord testify about our Saviour Jesus Christ.  It was really powerful to hear him say 'I know that my Redeemer lives!'  He didn't use a lot of words to share his testimony, but when he spoke the Spirit was there.  I felt an overwhelmingly peaceful feeling at that conference and it was an amazing experience!!  Also to have E, and S. there! Oh my it was incredible!!!!!!!

E. is just doing amazing!  She loved the relief society activity this week- the whole ward LOVES her! and when we taught her the word of wisdom this week and asked if she would live it she said 'I already am!' She had heard somethings from friends but it was negative so she looked it up herself- then she found that it was from a prophet and she gave up tea and coffee-- she already didn't drink or smoke :) Seriously she is amazing!  Hearing her testify, it is so powerful!!!!

We went on exchange with the South Shield sisters- I went with Sis Lybbert my Canadian bff- it was a good exchange but the highlight was when we went street contacting- alright so some things you should know-- background-- President always talks about making finding fun and interesting and being ourself-- and all the missionaries know I love to dance, always having fun at pday and I taught the whole zone this really fun dance game kind of like signs- well my move is 'the cat-daddy'

So when lybbert and I were contacting we asked this younger lady 25ish if she had ever heard of the cat-daddy, she said no and so we showed her what it was, she loved it! and she is out of town for the next 2 weeks but hopefully the sisters can meet with her and she will get baptized because of it ;)  it was great we were able to talk to her for a really long time- and she got to see we are normal people :)

Whelp I think that is all my highlights this week :)  Love you! have a good week!!

03.10.2014 -- Life is Great in Shields!

What?!  It is so nice again!!  I don't even know what is going on!!!!

Oh man such a busy week but it was SO good!

So Monday we went to the beach with the SS sisters :) oh man I just love our flat so much!! I can't believe that I have been with Lybbert and Nigido for so long! And the 4 of us have SO much fun :)  I love love love it!  I can honestly say that some of my very best friends in the whole world have been made here in South Shields!!  And now I have an excuse to go to Canada and Italy, and Idaho too ;) so I'm happy :)

We went on exchange with the Newcastle sisters monday/tuesday.  Sis Holland came here to shields and Peck went down there.  It was such a great couple of days!  We saw SO many miracles!  People let us in when we went knocking, saw some less actives but the best thing was Emma!! So we met E. street contacting last week, she is around 30 and has a 2 year old daughter named J.- oh my goodness the cutest little thing! So we saw her on tuesday- wow powerful lesson!  She is SO prepared!!! Strong belief in God, but has had a hard time lately and hasn't turned to God as much as she knows she should, well her daughter keeps reminding her because she will say Jesus! or Church! and she has known she needs to find a church- but she hasn't been able to find one she really likes.  Then she met us!

oh man!  In that first lesson we sang I Know that My Reedeemer lives.  That is how I know the mission really has changed me- I can go so far out of my comfort zone- singing to strangers?!?!?! what?!?!? well luckily the Spirit was really strong so it was louder than I was ;) hahaha  (ps I've also sang in members houses for spiritual thoughts and at baptisms. ya don't worry it is still the same sis monroe haha)   she was a huge miracle!!!  I love her so much! she is so fun and cute!! Her passion for God is amazing!

That night we went to the Kinghorns :) I love them!  He is so funny, and he reminds me of you dad!

Wednesday was a very very floggy day- even my driving instructor flogged.  .  . again!! so I found someone new! Sis Deacon made this really good dinner and brought it to the chapel for us and the other sisters and it was so much fun to all be together :)

Thursday was mission leadership council and then after we went to Stanley on exchange.

It was such a good exchange! Oh man Sis Allen is hilarious!!!! I had so much fun with her! She's from Whales and we danced and had fun and saw miracles!!! oh and it snowed!!!! we were walking and then all of the sudden ow!!  it was hailing and snowing!!

Saturday was the day of miracles!!!!!!! oh man I wish I had more time!

We scheduled E.!!  :)  and she came to church :) i think she really enjoyed it!!! J. did for sure!!  and conference is next week!!! she is so excited for that!

J. is doing great! and so is her mom!!! that is what we are so excited for!!!! oh man!!!

Life is great in shields :)

ps after tomorrow I will be legal to drive in England :)  I still have to take my theory and practical test but I have until april to pass it (since I have an american license I can drive for up to a year- then get full uk license) so that is exciting :)

03.03.2014 -- Time is going by so fast!

Oh man!  Time is going by so fast!!  I can't even believe it! It is already March! This time last year we were counting down to go on the cruise and the mission and now I am watching the days fly by!!

Well it has been a great week! S, got baptized!! He is doing great :)  He loves the quad, he taped in some of the cards the members gave him when he got baptized, and in the quad he wrote down how he felt when he was baptized so he can always remember those feelings on that day!

When he got in the car Sunday morning, normally he is really tired and looks angry but yesterday he had his white shirt and tie, hair combed and a huge smile on his face :)  I love seeing the change the gospel makes in people!

HUGE miracle, J., the daughter of the less active- well her whole family was there at the baptism! And C. her mom came to church this week and said that she will be there again next week!  That means if she continues to come J. can finally progress towards a day!  Poor J. she has been trying to help her mom come for weeks!!!!  And at the baptism she said I just want that to be me!  It was that cutest thing ever!

Guess what!  I had my first driving lesson this week :) oh ya! It actually wasn't that bad driving on the other side of the road.  Apparently I drive too fast .   .   .   .   . :) whoops ;) but it was just hard driving preparing for the test- the instructor kept getting mad because I was signaling before I checked the mirrors- crossing my hands when I turn and little things like that- but hopefully I can be done with all that soon!

Zone conference was this week!  It was SO good!  I just love president so much! Him and Sister Pilkington gave such great instruction!  We are not going back to Egypt- they talked about never losing our nerve/ confidence.  Sister Peck and I got to do our workout with the sisters, it was really fun! Then we instructed on ways to cope with stress.

THE SUN IS OUT TODAY! what?!  yay!!!!!! So we are going to the beach :) oh ya!!

We went on exchange with Billingham- it was the best exchange I've been on yet!

Well this week is mission leadership council and we are going on 2 exchanges because we have more sisters than weeks!  haha but it will be great :)

well I love you! glad to see the cruise went well!!

<3 Sister Monroe :)
